Pauline, one of our trustees, has just received an email from Petchip, saying her cat’s microchip registration had expired and now needed renewing, for a fee of £18.95. They had all the right details, including his chip number and even a photo. But what seemed odd, apart from the fact that she paid to keep him registered permanently on the database, was that there had been three other cats microchipped and registered at the same time, but they only wanted payment for one.
Pauline then contacted the Kennel Club, who run Petlog (note the difference in spelling). Who confirmed all her cats details are up-to-date and will not expire. They not only phoned but sent a long email explaining that this has happened to a lot of people.
Be aware, this Petchip is a scam and a very convincing one.
DO NOT RESPOND TO PETCHIP.
